1. Overview
Chessonomy is a chess training workspace for game review, analysis, puzzles, and rating tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to the Chessonomy website, account dashboard, puzzle trainer, analysis tools, paid plans, and related services.
2. Information You Provide
When you sign in or create an account, we may receive your email address, display name, profile image, and authentication identifiers from the sign-in provider.
When you use chess tools, you may provide chess-related content such as usernames, PGNs, FENs, imported games, analysis positions, puzzle attempts, ratings, and training activity.
3. Information Collected Automatically
We collect technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as session cookies, device/browser information, request logs, and approximate usage events.
Optional analytics tools only run after you allow them in Privacy Settings. These tools may help us understand page views, traffic sources, layout issues, and product usability.
4. Cookies And Local Storage
Essential cookies and local storage are used for authentication, security, preferences, local development login, and core app behavior.
Optional analytics and product analytics preferences are stored in your browser. You can change them at any time with the Privacy Settings control.
5. How We Use Information
We use information to provide chess analysis, puzzle progress, dashboards, leaderboards, account access, subscriptions, support, fraud prevention, security, and product improvement.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private chess activity to create public profiles except where you intentionally participate in public features such as leaderboards.
6. Payments
Payments and subscription management are handled by Stripe or the payment provider shown at checkout.
Chessonomy does not store full card numbers. We may receive billing status, subscription plan, customer identifiers, and payment event metadata needed to activate or manage paid features.
7. Third-Party Services
Chessonomy may use services such as Supabase for authentication and database storage, Stripe for payments, Google authentication, Chess.com and Lichess integrations, Stockfish, Google Analytics, Ahrefs Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity.
These providers process information under their own privacy terms. Optional analytics services are controlled by your Privacy Settings preferences.
8. Retention
We keep account and training information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
You may request deletion of account-related data where applicable. Some records may be retained for legal, security, billing, or fraud-prevention reasons.
9. Your Choices
You can use Privacy Settings to allow or reject optional analytics in this browser.
You can sign out, stop using optional features, avoid importing games, or contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of account data where supported by applicable law.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user information.
No online service can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your email account and sign-in method secure.
11. Children
Chessonomy is not intended for children who are not allowed to use online services under the laws of their country or region without appropriate consent.
If you believe a child provided personal information without proper consent, contact us so we can review the account.
12. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Chessonomy, legal requirements, or our service providers change.
When we make material changes, we will update the date on this page. Continued use of Chessonomy after changes means the updated policy applies.
